600 Pounds of Marijuana Found near the Belz Factory Outlet Mall

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says officers discovered 600 pounds of marijuana in a dumpster near the Belz Factory Outlet Mall.

According to a Sheriff’s spokesperson, an unidentified person flagged down authorities, Thursday, September 23, 2010. The person told officers a Hispanic man was seen taking several large items out of a semi truck and putting them in a dumpster in the area of I-40 and Canada Road.

Authorities say when officers from the Interstate Criminal Interdiction Unit arrived at the scene, they discovered several boxes of marijuana, weighing 600 pounds, in the dumpster.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office says the truck and driver were not found. The investigation is ongoing
