A Philadelphia man who allegedly stole merchandise from stores in two townships on back-to-back days was arrested by Limerick Township Police after he allegedly shoplifted merchandise valued at $776 from the Philadelphia Premium Outlets Wednesday.
Timothy Carl Davis, 25, of the 200 block of North Wilton Street, Philadelphia, who also goes by the name Marcus Phillips, was charged with retail theft, unlawful possession of retail instrument, receiving stolen property, possessing instruments of crime, false identification to law enforcement, and disorderly conduct.
Davis was committed to Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail after his arraignment before District Judge Walter F. Gadzicki Thursday.
According to police, loss prevention officers from the Polo Ralph Lauren store at the Philadelphia Premium Outlets reported seeing Davis place several items of clothing in a bag and a shoebox that he was carrying and then leave the store without paying for the items. Police were notified of the incident and responded.
Loss prevention stopped Davis and found him in possession of 14 items of clothing valued at $776. Additionally, police said the shoebox Davis was in possession of had been lined with metal foil "to defeat security sensors."
Police said their subsequent investigation revealed that Davis was free on $10,000 unsecured bail for a retail theft he allegedly committed in Abington Township Dec. 18. Limerick Township police also learned that just one day prior to their contact with Davis, he had been arrested by Upper Merion Police and issued a criminal summons.
Davis remains incarcerated in Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail pending his preliminary hearing before Judge Gadzicki scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Jan. 6.
