Top 9 tips for shopping at Chic Outlets

The Chic Outlet Buzz Posted by Stacey Waterman

Consider these tips to ensure that you have the best Chic Outlet Shopping® experience and that you get what you want to see you through this season and beyond.

1. First and foremost, know your wardrobe. Make a list of key capsule pieces that need to be updated and those that address the trends of the season. To be chic is to be timeless, so pieces that transcend the seasons are the better investment.

2. Always do an online recce before you visit. The Chic Outlet Shopping® website and the Chic Outlet Shopping® app for iPhone both have access to all nine Village websites and their exclusive offers which change regularly. Make sure you check the offers first; it will help you plan your trip and your spending before you head into the Village. You’ll find many offers hard to resist.

3. Why not make a day of it? Head out early, stop for lunch in any of the Village’s fabulous restaurants to recharge the batteries, and then continue late into the afternoon and early evening. Be inspired by the contributors to our Chic Guide to Europe Film who give the lowdown on where to shop and eat in all nine of the Villages.

4. Turn your visit into a “shopcation”. The Villages are located in beautiful rural surroundings near major fashion capitals with many places of interest waiting to be explored. Book a “shopcation” through Small Luxury Hotels of the World where Chic Outlet Shopping® customers receive preferred rates. Download the Chic Guide to Europe for inspiration on places to visit during your trip, it’s available in many languages.

5. Arrive by Shopping Express. Why drive when you can be transported to any of the Villages in luxury using the Shopping Express coach service? Direct from the heart of nearby city destinations to the Villages, the Shopping Express is the most relaxing and enjoyable way to travel. We are currently offering a 50% saving on Shopping Express tickets until 15th January 2011. Simply enter the promo code COSSE0049 when you book online.

6. Plan a wish list. We buy clothes because we love them but before making your purchase think about the reasons why you are buying these items. If you are looking for specific pieces, list them. This will stop you making unnecessary purchases. However, if you love something and would have paid full price for it anyway, buy it. Great offers do not hang around forever.

7. Dress for comfort and don’t wear too many bulky layers. Wear something simple so it isn’t a mission to try something on. Always wear flat shoes – you’ll be thankful at the end of the day. A cross-shoulder satchel bag is the perfect shopping accessory; you’ll want your hands free for browsing.

8. Map out a route. Be prepared for your shopping trip and plan what boutiques you intend to visit. Each Village has between 55 and 140 niche European and international luxury designer brands – so make sure you visit the ones you know and take the opportunity to explore boutiques that you aren’t familiar with.

9. Have the latest information at your fingertips: Lastly, if you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch, make sure you download the Chic Outlet Shopping® app before you leave. The navigational maps are a great help and you’ll have all the latest offers at hand. The Chic Outlet Shopping® Facebook and Twitter sites are also a great route to the latest information.
