A fun day at the outlet mall turns into a terrifying experience for a 18 year old Forest Grove woman.
Chelsea Hopkins and her sister were shopping at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Lincoln City Sunday when Chelsea decided to drop some items off at their car in the lot. That's when she says a man forced her into the car at knife point.
The man drove Chelsea out of the parking lot of the mall and she says he punched her several times during the drive to a secluded area near Devil's Lake Road.
The car came to a dead end and that is when Chelsea made her get away. She jumped from the car and ran through a field even went diving though a barbed wire fence. She says the man was chasing her the entire way.
She made it to a near by home where the resident heard her screams for help. The suspect then took off in the other direction.
Police searched the area until dark but did not find the man.
About 90 minutes before this attack, a man also attacked two Motel workers in North Lincoln City with a knife and forced them into a room at the Motel. They say the man then left without incident.
At this time police are treating both cases separately but Chelsea Hopkins tells our news partner, KGW News Channel 8, it is the same man.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Lincoln City Police at 541-994-3636
