HOWELL TOWNSHIP — Michigan State Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the person or people who stole about $230,000 worth of jewelry from a Howell Township store.

According to a news release, a state trooper from the Brighton post and a Livingston County sheriff's deputy responded to the Ultra Diamond Store at the Tanger Outlet Center at Kensington Valley, 1475 N. Burkhart Road in Howell Township, around midnight Saturday for a burglar alarm.

Upon arrival, officers found the front door of the business broken out.

The trooper and deputy searched the business, but no suspects were located. Officers found numerous glass display cases had been broken and a "large amount" of various jewelry — including pendants, rings, earrings and precious stones — was stolen.

The theft is similar to one that occurred in December at the same store in which police found the front window broken and display cases smashed. An estimated $80,000 in jewelry was taken in that break-in, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Joseph Pendergraff at the Brighton post at 810-227-1051.
