Armed Robbery at the Tanger Outlets in Terrell

A Van Zandt County man is in custody after robbing a pair of stores at the Tanger Outlet Center last week

Jeffery Martin Roe, 44, of Wills Point, was taken into custody July 23 and has been charged with two counts of aggravated robbery for his involvement in the July 19 robbery of the Old Navy Clothing Store and the July 23 robbery of the Osh Kosh Clothing Store

Roe also has been tied to a July 13 robbery of a Beall’s store in Canton

According to Terrell Police Department Capt. Arley Sansom, it was determined that the suspect, entered into the Osh Kosh store on July 23 and browsed through the clothing racks until all of the other shoppers went into the dressing rooms. The defendant then chose several items of clothing and went to the cash register where he demanded the money from the clerk, while displaying a black semi-automatic handgun.   Employees gave the suspect the money and he then ran from the store before fleeing the scene in a maroon Ford pickup.

Terrell police issued an area wide broadcast detailing the crime type and suspect information just before the Wills Point Police Department located a vehicle matching the description in their city. Wills Point officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle but the driver, the defendant, fled until he later surrendered without further incident.

Terrell Police responded to the scene of the suspect’s apprehension and recovered evidence further implicating the suspect in the robbery.  During the investigation it was determined that the defendant’s physical description, vehicle description and modus operandi matched that of the aggravated robbery of the Old Navy store
