Robber Steals a Flat Screen TV at the Wrentham Premium Outlet

A Boston man, who police said stole a TV, fled down Interstate 495 and was caught in a roadblock on Sunday.

Police said three Wrentham police cruisers chased the suspect, Ricky Whigham, 49, around 3 p.m. from the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets on Route 1A and down I-495 southbound, the Attleborough Sun Chronicle reported.

Whigham got stuck in a traffic jam set up by Detective Barry McGrath, who was on Route 1 when he heard about the chase, officials said.

Police said they arrested Whigham at gunpoint on larceny and motor vehicle charges.

Police said a Sony customer reported seeing someone walk out of the store with a flat-screen TV. They then got a license plate number and approached the car, driven by Whigham, at a red light at the exit of the mall, which is when the chase started.

(SERIOUSLY! A customer had to tell the police? Where were the employees? How does a robber get out of a store with a flat screen TV?)
