A Trenton woman employed to hold a roadside sign for a store in Liberty Village Premium Outlets has been charged with hiding heroin on the roof of her mouth, police said.
On Saturday, Patrolman Robert Godown was on routine patrol around noon when he spotted a woman holding a sign at the side of Route 202/31. Godown stopped because he saw she wasn’t actually holding the sign; it was affixed to one of the Hunterdon Shopping Center’s signs, which she was standing next to, police said.
The officer informed her that was illegal because the Hunterdon Shopping Center is private property. While checking her information, he learned the woman, Annette Bryant, 45, of Trenton, had an active warrant for $304 out of Trenton.
Bryant came to police headquarters to post bail, but Godown then found another warrant out of Englewood for $2,095. She also uses an alias, Marie McBurrows, under which she had a $3,680 warrant out of Clifton.
She was taken to Hunterdon County Jail, where corrections officers discovered 10 to 20 decks of heroin in her mouth.
Bryant was additionally charged with possession of heroin and obstruction of the law. She was determined to be a flight risk and held on $20,000 bail, with no partial cash option.
