GREENSBORO, N.C., Dec. 13, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, Inc.(NYSE:SKT) is pleased to announce that Tanger Outlets at the Arches in Deer Park, New York on Long Island, was the recipient of the International Council of Shopping Centers' (ICSC) Gold Sustainability Award. The award is part of ICSC's U.S. Design and Development Awards which recognizes cutting edge properties that exhibit innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends as well as outstanding examples of design and development.
Developed by Tanger Outlet Centers, Blumenfeld Development and Apollo Realty (together working as Deer Park Enterprises, LLC), Tanger Outlets at the Arches won its Gold Sustainability Award in the Innovation Design and Development of a New Project category which honors a specific new shopping center and demonstrates how new standards in design and construction were established.
In addition to the Gold Sustainability Award, Tanger Outlets at the Arches' developers, working with Adams + Associates Architecture (Mooresville, NC), Susan Blumenfeld (Design Consultant), Cameron Engineering & Associates LLP (Woodbury, NY), Aurora Construction (Ronkonkoma, NY), and the Town of Babylon, New York, were also honored with a Silver Innovative Design and Development Award by ICSC.

Since opening in the fall of 2008, Tanger Outlets at the Arches in Deer Park has become one of Long Island's most popular shopping attractions. The 740,000 square foot retail/mixed use center is the first certified LEED (R) (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) shopping center in the state of New York and is the largest development on Long Island in three decades.
