Toys "R" Us opens its new outlet store at Las Americas this Friday, bringing a plethora of toys and other products for kids to the outlet mall on the border.
The 4,000-square-foot store will feature an array of value-oriented products only found in the chain's outlet stores, along with a selection of some items available in the full-sized Toys "R" Us stores. The Wayne, New Jersey-based company, which also operates the nation's oldest toy retailer, FAO Schwarz, has about 1,600 stores and 70,000 employees worldwide. San Diego is home to 11 of them, including four Babies "R" Us locations. This will be the region's first outlet, and the 18th new outlet store the company has opened since 2010.
For its grand opening, the Las Americas store will hand out complimentary Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us-branded lunch bags, while supplies last.

Toys R Us was a public company from 1979 until 2005, when an investment group consisting of Bain Capital Partners, LLC; Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. and Vornado Realty Trust acquired it for $6.6 billion.
