Armed Robbery Suspects Hit Nike at Ellenton Premium Outlets

MANATEE — Six Orlando men, already suspects in a string of armed robberies, were arrested Saturday after they broke into the Nike Factory Store in the Ellenton outlet mall, tying up store clerks and stealing money from the safe, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelsey Coffey, 26; Keenan Davis, 26; Moses Patterson, 22; Jamal Tillman, 22; Danoris Scott, 23 and Tiandre Rogers, 23, were each charged with armed robbery and false imprisonment, according to a news release.

Deputies had been notified the group believed responsible for several armed outlet mall robberies in the Orlando area might be committing similar crimes in Manatee County. Patrol at the Ellenton Premium Outlet Mall, 5461 Factory Shops Blvd. in Ellenton, was increased.

At about 9:40 p.m. Davis and Coffey reportedly rushed the doorway at the Nike store as the clerks were leaving through the front door. Amale clerk was hit over the head while a female clerk was physically secured, deputies said. Both were bound by zip ties, according to the sheriff's office.

Coffey told the clerks he had a gun and demanded the safe be opened. An undetermined amount of cash was taken, according to the report.

The suspects were spotted by deputies near closing time and additional patrol units were called as Coffey and Davis entered the Nike Factory Store, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies reportedly saw the two suspects leave the store carrying bags. Coffey and Davis were walking across the parking lot as the remaining four got into the car and headed in their direction.

Deputies tried to stop the vehicle as Coffey and Davis ran away. Following a short foot chase they were arrested . The car was also stopped, and during a search deputies found a handgun and a shotgun.

The stolen money was recovered and no serious injuries reported, according to the report.
