Carjacking at Las Americas Premium Outlets



One of two men believed to have robbed and carjacked a group of four people at the Las Americas Premium Outlets in San Ysidro was in custody on Sunday.

Two men, a woman and a 12-year-old boy were in their van in the parking lot near Camino de la Plaza shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday when they were confronted by two men, said San Diego police Officer David Stafford. Police said the family was robbed at gunpoint and forced out of the vehicle.

Shortly afterward, a police officer spotted the van headed north on Interstate 5 and followed it to a 7-Eleven on Palm Avenue, where one man was arrested and the other ran away, he said.The name of the man arrested was being withheld. A gun found in the van was recovered by police, Stafford said.
