Secret Service investigates counterfeit bills at Cincinatti Premium Outlet

Dayton Daily News By Denise Wilson, Staff Writer
An Indiana woman has been arrested and charged with forgery and theft for her alleged involvement in a counterfeit ring at Cincinnati Premium Outlets on Ohio 63 and Interstate 75 in Warren County.

Shinena Moutria, 21, of Elkhart, Ind., is being held on a $50,000 bond in the Warren County Jail on 13 charges of forgery and 13 charges of theft for passing counterfeit 100 bills at the mall on Nov. 22, Monroe police officials said.

She is scheduled for a hearing at 2 p.m. today in Lebanon Municipal Court.

An employee from Maidenform called police about 5 p.m. and said that a female currently in the store had passed a counterfeit 100 bill.

Moutria was stopped outside the store and detained for questioning by police.

“She stated that she had come to the outlet mall with four other females and a male, only known as ‘Dee,’ to pass the fake 100 bills,” said Monroe Police Officer Paul Corbeil.

“Each female was to take a certain section of stores and go into the store and purchase a small item under $10. They were to then return the money given to them by the store to ‘Dee’ and then get more fake $100 bills to pass.”

Corbeil said Moutria said that she had gone into several stores, but did not know exactly how many. She remembered going to Rue21, Tommy Hilfiger, Claires, Levi’s, Fragrance Outlet and Yankee Candle.

She also was found, upon further investigation, to have gone into Maidenform, Totes, Kasper, Wilsons Leather, and Van Heusen, he said.

Seventeen other stores had possibly been visited by Moutria he said.

The case is now being investigated by the United States Secret Service, which may seek to file federal charges against her, said Monroe Police Lieutenant Brian Curlis.
