JC Penny Outlet to close at Potomac Mills

The J.C. Penney store at the Potomac Mills outlet mall in Woodbridge will close its doors.

Mall General Manager Mike Sullivan confirmed the store will shutter, noting that J.C. Penney Co. Inc. announced it would be closing its outlet locations earlier in the year. He could not immediately confirm what will replace the retailer at the outlet mall, owned by Simon Property Group Inc. (NYSE: SPG).

"We already have a plan in motion and look forward to announcing updates in the near future," he said.

According to a Virginia state notice, the closure will occur in July and affect 103 employees.
