Centralia’s largest retail complex is about to become home to another tenant just in time for the summer.
Centralia Factory Outlets retail and marketing manager Renate Johnson said Friday that The Children’s Place, a children’s clothing retailer, will move into space formerly occupied by Pfaltzgraff at 1311 Lum Road, next to Lovely Nails and the outlet information center. Crews have begun work in anticipation of a projected early July opening.
The Children’s Place joins Christopher & Banks, a store specializing in women’s clothing, that is expected to open June 10 at 110 West High Street near the Nike Clearance Store and Lane Bryant.
Christopher & Banks will open in space that was originally projected to become a New Balance outlet, but that deal fell through.
Johnson says increased interest from retailers since the early part of last year has spurred a new era of growth at the Centralia Factory Outlets. She pointed to the Coach Outlet Store opening in February 2010 as a major turning point for new stores moving in.
“It’s starting to pop over here again and we’ve been seeing that interest here for quite awhile now,” Johnson said Friday. “Our leasing people just got back from a convention where they were able to network, and we’re also going to have a lot of people from different stores coming through this summer to take a look at possible space here.”
The Centralia Factory Outlets have welcomed two new tenants thus far in 2011 with the addition of The Children’s Place and Christopher & Banks. Coach and Toys ‘R’ Us Express joined the outlets in 2010, with Toys ‘R’ Us Express signing a lease extension after a successful holiday retail season.
Johnson says there will be an announcement next week about the arrival of another tenant, but did not provide any advance details Friday.
