LEE -- A married couple from Chester allegedly tried to sell $4,500 worth of a potent pain medication in Lee, according to local police.
Allan and Frances Margraff, 53 and 46, respectively, each face one count of distributing Oxycontin, possession with intent to sell the prescription drug, and conspiracy to violate the state's drug laws.
The husband and wife were held briefly on Wednesday afternoon in the town's lockup, after being arrested at the Lee Premium Outlets shopping complex following an ongoing investigation, said Lee Police Officer Ryan Lucy.
The Margraffs were released on their own behalf and will answer to the drug charges in Southern Berkshire District Court at a later date.
The couple was arrested around 1 p.m. after several Lee police officers and members of the Berkshire County Drug Task Force witnessed them supposedly selling the painkillers in the parking lot of the Premium Outlets near Exit 2 of the Massachusetts Turnpike.
Authorities say the Margraffs allegedly had 75 Oxycontin pills worth $4,500 if sold on the street.
