Sawgrass Mills to break ground on expansion

April 26, 2012 | By Katherine Field Boccaccio - Chain Store Age

Sunrise, Fla. -- Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group announced that Sawgrass Mills, the largest outlet, value retail and entertainment destination in the United States with more than 350 stores, will soon break ground on its newest phase of development to increase the footprint of The Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills.

This milestone also represents the soon-to-be-completed 140,000-sq.-ft. retail expansion of the south side of the property.

The 40,000-sq.-ft. expansion of The Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass will be located across from the existing retail structure by late 2012.

The 140,000-sq.-ft. retail expansion to the south side of the property will allow for more retailers to open this summer, including South Florida’s first outlet location from Steve Madden, plus Columbia Sportswear Outlet and Volcom. Other brands such as Forever 21 and Calvin Klein will relocate and undergo expansions to be in this new wing.

The retail surge at Sawgrass Mills will also add a second location from Michael Kors, a Bare Minerals, and the expansion of Levi’s Outlet Store. Talbot’s, Greg Norman and Old Navy, as well as a California Pizza Kitchen, will open at The Oasis at Sawgrass Mills.
