Sixth holdup in five months at Lancaster outlets

An armed robber struck a store at the Route 30 outlets Sunday in what police believe is his sixth holdup in that area.

The man showed a handgun when he held up the Socks Galore Outlet at about 3 p.m. Sunday in Rockvale Square, fleeing on foot afterward.

It was the second time that outlet store has been held up in the past two months. Both robberies happened on Sundays.

East Lampeter Township Police Lt. Robin Weaver said police believe the same man may be linked to half a dozen holdups that have happened at both the Rockvale and Tanger outlets since February.

The armed robberies and their dates are: Feb. 13, Bath & Body Works, at Tanger; March 17, Gold Toe Factory Store, at Rockvale; May 6, Socks Galore, at Rockvale; May 13, Totes/Sunglass World, at Tanger; and May 21, Jones NY Woman, at Rockvale.

"They appear to be similar and have the same suspect," Weaver said.

In the most recent holdup, the man entered the store and approached one of two female employees, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

He was described as a black man, with a heavy build, wearing a dark shirt and black jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to contact East Lampeter Township Police Detective Chris Jones at 291-4676.
