Part of Birch Run Outlets evacuated due to report of 'suspicious backpack'

UPDATE: As of 3:40 p.m., all stores have been reopened as responders have left the scene.
 
BIRCH RUN, MI — Police have responded to a report of a "suspicious backpack" found at the Birch Run Outlets before 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, confirmed Saginaw County 911 Director Tom McIntyre.

Representatives from the Birch Run Outlets declined to comment on the matter, saying only that emergency personnel were on-scene as of 3:30 p.m.

An employee at one of the outlet stores did confirm to MLive and The Saginaw News that a bomb squad is also on-scene and is investigating a "suspicious backpack" that was found in Section B of the outlets.
