Raising money for Japan at the Guam Premier Outlets

A collective of photographers presented $1,233 to the Japan Club of Guam Wednesday following an all-day fund raiser Sunday at Guam Premier Outlets.

The Guam Photographers Group, a group of professional, amateur and beginning photographers, formed about a year ago, put their creative skills toward a good cause yesterday during the all-day event, "Pushing Buttons for Japan."

Volunteer photographers set up a mini-portrait studio in a corridor of the Guam Premier Outlets, and took portraits of afternoon shoppers.

"Turnout was probably better than what we anticipated, and people were really happy to get portraits done professionally," said photographer Lewis Santos.

Lewis said the group took photos for about 62 customers, and received more than $100 in donations as well. About 30 photographers participated in the event, and contestants from the Miss Guam Earth pageant also helped draw traffic to the photo studio.
