1st phase filling at Tanger Outlet Galveston

Texas City Mayor Matt Doyle, who is in constant contact with outlet officials, reports the mall’s first phase, set for completion in October, already is 85 percent leased and likely will be almost fully leased when the doors open.

So, who are all these retail tenants that plan to move into the mall?

Officials with Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, which with retail rival Simon Property Group is developing the mall, didn’t immediately respond Monday to requests for a fresh retail lineup.

In August, the co-developers announced that Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Polo Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Puma were among the brand-name retailers signed on for the first phase of the proposed outlet center. Guess, Nine West, Perry Ellis, Tommy Hilfiger, Gap Factory Store and Under Armour also would be in the initial retail lineup, developers said.

In August, Steven B. Tanger, president and CEO of Greensboro, N.C.-based Tanger Factory Outlet Centers, declined to divulge more tenants than already had been announced until lease documents were signed. And at the time, Tanger would neither confirm nor deny rumors that Saks Fifth Avenue planned an Off 5th store for the center.

But he said the lineup would be similar to that of Houston Premium Outlet in Cypress, which has an Off 5th, along with Burberry, Michael Kors, Kate Spade and other high-end stores. Stay tuned.
